The Carson Group Announces the Formation of Carson Films, LLC

HUDSON, Ohio--()--Lisa Carson, President and CEO of The Carson Group announced today the formation of Carson Films, an entertainment company that will be based in Hudson, Ohio and will focus on stage productions, music videos, and documentary films.

Carson Films' first project will feature its involvement in the New York City premiere of Possum Dreams, a play written by Ed Falco, directed by Sean Derry, and originally premiered to critical acclaim in Akron, Ohio by the None too Fragile Theatre Company.

"We're pleased to be teamed with Executive Producer Dr. Susan Speers of Prodigal Productions and Sean Derry of None too Fragile Theatre in production of our first off-Broadway endeavor," said Lisa Carson, who will also serve as President and Creative Director of Carson Films. "The play had great success last summer in Akron, and we're appreciative of the opportunity to be involved with reprising it for New York City audiences."

Derry will direct Falco's Possum Dreams during a "preview weekend," March 13-14, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. both evenings at the None Too Fragile Theatre, 1835 Merriman Road, in Akron, Ohio.

Following that preview performance, Carson Films and Prodigal Productions will produce the play at Shetler Studios' Theatre 54, at the corner of W. 54th and Broadway, New York City, New York. The New York City performances will run March 18 through March 28, 2015.

Carson has run The Carson Group, a full service advertising agency and video production firm for more than two decades. Carson Films will be located within the Hudson, Ohio offices of The Carson Group.

"After 20 years of producing award-winning corporate video, television commercials, and other commercial work, we're launching Carson Films as a vehicle for creative entertainment," Lisa Carson continued. "The Carson Group, will — of course — continue with business as usual; however, we view the launch of Carson Films as an important step in our creative evolution."

Future plans for Carson Films include production of touring stage productions, designed to extend successful performances to larger audiences. In addition, the company is planning the production of a documentary film targeted at festival audiences throughout North America.

Prodigal Productions is a theatre production company owned and operated by Dr. Susan Speers, a professor of theatre at The University of Akron.

None Too Fragile Theatre is a professional theatre founded by Sean Derry, Alanna Romansky, and Jaysen Mercer, and is located in Akron's Merriman Valley next to Pub Bricco. None too Fragile specializes in modern, relevant productions featuring thought-provoking and character-driven storytelling.
