VMTurbo and Pure Storage Announce API Integration of Pure FlashArray and VMTurbo Storage Control

Integration Leverages Patented VMTurbo Decision-Engine Technology to Help Maximize the Value of Pure Storage Environments

BOSTON & MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--()--VMTurbo and Pure Storage, the market’s leading independent solid-state array vendor, today announced a joint solution, which delivers efficient decision automation within Pure Storage environments. VMTurbo now offers deep integration with the Pure Storage FlashArray, with RESTful API embedded in the Purity Operating Environment. The joint solution enables VMTurbo to access diagnostic and behavioral information in order to apply its patented Economic Scheduling Engine to automate Intelligent Workload Management decisions.

“We are ecstatic to offer our first all-flash array integrated rendition of Storage Control,” said Geeta Sachdev, CMO of VMTurbo. “The combination of Pure Storage and VMTurbo in the marketplace offers a valuable and compelling solution which permits joint customers unprecedented control over application SLAs as all-flash adoption accelerates.”

The Flash Revolution and Intelligent Workload Management

By mapping the activity of virtual workloads through the virtual datastore and to the underlying Pure Storage FlashArray, this solution enables joint customers to identify noisy neighbor workloads, identify latency-inducing workloads, and maximize the value of Pure Storage investments through demand-driven placement decisions and volume sizing.

Pure Storage has revolutionized the storage industry with the FlashArray, a purpose built array, which provides enterprise class flash-based storage. The FlashCare™ technology, developed by Pure Storage, manages, protects and extends the life of flash and ensures consistent performance across multiple applications. The FlashReduce, FlashProtect and FlashRecover build on top of FlashCare provide enterprise class data services such as industry leading inline data reduction, rich data protection & disaster recovery services. Pure Storage dramatically simplifies storage management while supporting the most demanding of business-critical workloads.

VMTurbo’s demand-driven control platform for cloud and virtual environments leverages a patented market economy algorithm to conduct Intelligent Workload Management – a process of continuous workload sizing, placement, and configuration decisions that assures application performance while maximizing resource utilization across the entire infrastructure.

Pure Storage & VMTurbo Integration

The new joint solution, which is available today, extends the VMTurbo Storage Control Module to permit the discovery of capacity utilization, access latency, and storage provisioning on Pure Storage FlashArrays. Additionally, the integration provides customers a priori control over application, user, or custom group service levels, ensuring consistent and repeatable delivery of Gold, Silver, and Bronze SLAs in multi-tenant environments. VMTurbo can intelligently migrate virtual machines to balance loads across various dimensions on the FlashArray such as space/capacity, latency and performance, or based on predefined policies and workload priorities. Additionally, the integration enables VMTurbo to create or resize Pure Storage volumes under the same conditions.

“As our enterprise customers evolve toward IT service models, they demand infrastructure that will support performance-based SLAs,” said Matt Kixmoeller, VP of Products, Pure Storage. “This integration with VMTurbo not only provides a platform which can assure system wide Quality of Service, therefore meeting SLAs, but can also drive down infrastructure costs by increasing VM density and efficiency.”

A brief on the joint solution between Pure Storage and VMTurbo is available here. A white paper about the joint solution is available here.

VMTurbo and Pure Storage will be hosting a joint webinar to demonstrate the joint solution on Wednesday, February 25th, at 1:30pm EST (10:30am PST). Register here.

About VMTurbo

VMTurbo’s Demand-Driven Control platform enables organizations to manage cloud and enterprise virtualization environments to assure application performance while maximizing resource utilization. VMTurbo’s patented decision-engine technology dynamically analyzes demand from applications, containers, network and VDI and adjusts configuration, resource allocation and workload placement to meet service levels and business goals. With this unique understanding into the dynamic interaction of demand and supply, VMTurbo is the only technology capable of closing the loop in IT operation by automating the decision-making process to maintain an environment in a healthy state.

The VMTurbo platform first launched in August 2010 and since that time more than 10,000 users worldwide have deployed the platform, including JP Morgan Chase, Colgate-Palmolive and Salesforce.com. Using VMTurbo, our customers ensure that applications get the resources they need to operate reliably, while utilizing their most valuable infrastructure and human resources most efficiently.
