This course explains the principles and details associated with fire tests used to show whether materials, products or assemblies comply with codes and/or regulations regarding fire safety. Particular emphasis will be placed on the problems of fire testing “new” materials when traditional fire tests are “less than ideal”. This course also explains fire safety codes and regulations and how they evolve, especially in the US. The Pinfa “Meeting Flammability Requirements for Commercial Buildings and Construction” conference co-sponsored by the National Pollution Prevention Roundtable (NPPR) brings together plastic formulators, polymer producers, flame retardant manufacturers, construction material OEMs, component manufacturers, as well as government and non-governmental organizations to discuss fire safety and environmental topics critical to the commercial building and construction industries.
