University of Phoenix Receives Recognition for Process Excellence

Process that identifies relevant experiences for college credit receives the University’s ninth award

PHOENIX--()--University of Phoenix today announced it has been honored for the sixth consecutive year with the “Showcase in Excellence” Process Level award from the Southwest Alliance for Excellence (SWAE). This year, the University was recognized for its Prior Learning Assessment Professional Training Portfolio, which identifies relevant learning, work and life experiences that can be applied toward college credits.

“University of Phoenix is honored to be selected as a recipient of the 2014 ‘Showcase in Excellence Award,’” said Tim Slottow, president of University of Phoenix. “The University is committed to innovation in all areas of the organization, and this award acknowledges excellence in a process that assists in providing exceptional educational resources and services that help our students successfully navigate their higher education experience.”

The Showcase in Excellence Award recognizes organizations for one specific process that is innovative or cutting-edge. The process may be used as a role model in comparison to competitors or result in exceptional performance. Organizations were encouraged to apply for any organizational process they believe is exceptional, relating the process to one of six categories aligned with the Baldrige criteria.

“University of Phoenix’s recognition by Southwest Alliance for Excellence year after year demonstrates their continued dedication to improve academic and operational excellence,” said Karen Shepard, executive director of the Southwest Alliance for Excellence. “We are proud to empower organizations to pursue performance excellence, improve outcomes and contribute to the economic strength of their community and state.”

The 22nd annual Performance Excellence Program recognized organizations for excellence in quality, performance and outcomes. The program, modeled after the Malcolm Baldrige Award criteria, provides not only an opportunity for recognition, but also valuable feedback regarding where an organization is positioned on the quality continuum. The goal of the program is to improve results in organizations throughout Arizona, Nevada and Utah using the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence.
