Fastest SF Meal Delivery Now Accepts Bitcoin

SpoonRocket Participates in #BitLunch Today and Offers Half-Off Meals to Customers Using Digital Currency

SAN FRANCISCO--()--SpoonRocket, an SF on-demand meal delivery start-up, is adding even more convenience for customers by providing a new way to purchase good meals, fast. The company announced today that it now accepts Bitcoin as a form of payment.

To kick off the new offering, SpoonRocket will offer 50 percent off meals today to any customer who purchases a meal at www.spoonrocket.com using Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a payment choice along with Visa, MasterCard and PayPal. This is part of the first-ever #BitLunch, sponsored by SNAPCARD, encouraging thousands of Bitcoin holders to buy lunch using digital currency on January 23rd. #BitLunch is an Instagram and Twitter campaign to raise awareness for Bitcoin and encourage Bitcoin users around the world to purchase lunch from participating merchants who accept the currency.

SpoonRocket was built on the principle of convenience and speed, and we’re always looking for ways to make life easier for our rocketeers,” said Anson Tsui, chief technology officer and co-founder of SpoonRocket. “Digital currency will be an important part of the future, and we’re excited to be the first on-demand meal delivery to start accepting Bitcoin.”

Bitcoin is an emerging peer-to-peer virtual currency that functions as a decentralized payment network and offers to reduce fees, settlement times, and other frictions associated with traditional payments. Bitcoin is secured by the same state-of-the-art cryptography used by the military.

SpoonRocket is teaming up with SNAPCARD, based in San Francisco, to process payments and manage Bitcoin conversion into U.S. dollars.

“We at SNAPCARD are huge fans of SpoonRocket’s service,” said Michael Dunwroth, CEO of SNAPCARD. “SpoonRocket brings a fresh new experience to ordering food online, and we’re very excited to make the process even easier for digital currency users.”
