LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CH2M HILL, the employee-owned infrastructure and programme management company, has awarded a grant of US$50,000 to the Social Mobility Foundation through the CH2M HILL Foundation. The donation follows a similar grant made last year and renews the partnership established between the two organisations.
The new funding will go towards supporting an Engineering Residential Programme for up to 25 A-Level students in summer 2015 and will also help provide one-on-one mentoring for students with professionals from CH2M HILL, as well as a range of university-related skills events the charity provides. The grant is one of three being made this year by the CH2M HILL Foundation to UK based organisations, making up a total US$140,000 investment.
Commenting on the grant, David Johnston, CEO of the Social Mobility Foundation said: “We are delighted to be receiving such a generous investment from the CH2M HILL Foundation. This is the second year we have received this grant from CH2M HILL, following the successful Engineering Residential Programme last summer.
“We are grateful not only for the financial investment but also the time donated by CH2M HILL employees who act as mentors for these young people who may not have otherwise received such opportunities.”
Rachel White, CH2M HILL Foundation UK Board Director, added: “CH2M HILL is committed to developing the skills of young people and helping open up opportunities for them to pursue careers in the STEM sector. We are therefore delighted to renew our commitment to the Social Mobility Foundation in 2015 and, through the Engineering Residential Programme, help plug the skills gap to build the next generation of British engineers.”
