Amerigroup Repacks the Backpacks for Kids around Georgia

Statewide Initiative Re-stocks Kids School Supplies for Second Semester

ATLANTA--()--The holidays may be over, but Amerigroup Community Care of Georgia is extending the season of giving by donating thousands of school supplies to local kids around Georgia. The Repack the Backpack initiative, which kicks-off on Thursday, January 8 in Macon, will make six more stops throughout January to help kids and local families re-stock their school supplies for the new school semester.

Amerigroup will provide kids with free backpacks and back-to-school supplies including: notebooks, pens, pencils, folders, binders, paper and other essential items. Kids and families will also have the opportunity to receive free health screenings.

Each Repack the Backpack event will offer food, entertainment, games and activities for the family. Events will take place in the following locations:

  • Thursday, January 8: Southwest High School, Macon, GA
  • Friday, January 9: Lipsey Pate Boys & Girls Club, Albany, GA
    • Columbus Civic Center (Ice Skating Rink), Columbus, GA
  • Saturday, January 10: Riverdale Town Center, Riverdale, GA
  • Wednesday, January 14: Cobb Civic Center, Marietta, GA
  • Thursday, January 15: Otis Brock Elementary, Savannah, GA
  • Saturday, January 31: Georgia Square Mall, Athens, GA

“Most kids need to replenish the supplies they had at the beginning of the school year,” said Fran Gary, plan president, Amerigroup Georgia. “With the start of a new semester, Amerigroup wanted to help restock kids school supplies, so they can stay focused on succeeding in school.”
