ZTE USA and the Houston Rockets Complete 2nd Annual Season of Giving Community Program

ZTE and Rockets bring holiday cheer to children and families in the Houston area

HOUSTON--()--The Houston Rockets and ZTE USA, the fourth largest smartphone provider in the United States, concluded the second annual Season of Giving program with a Boys & Girls Club Holiday Extravaganza event at Toyota Center. Every year, from November to December, ZTE staff, members of the Rockets organizations and Rockets players and coaches complete a series of events to bring holiday cheer to those in need in the Houston area as part of the Season of Giving program.

This year, community events included three different activities: a Thanksgiving celebration with the Houston Area Urban League where Rockets players and ZTE staff delivered groceries and gift cards to 85 families in need; followed by the Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital Holiday Party where players, ZTE staff, Rockets Power Dancers and mascot Clutch brightened the holidays for patients with a party in Fondren Park, complete with arts and crafts, video games and gifts; and ending with the Boys & Girls Club Holiday Extravaganza at Toyota Center, where players and ZTE staff hosted a holiday event for 100 children from the Greater Houston area. The event included games on the upper concourse and Sky Court, with dinner and surprise gifts of bikes, helmets and backpacks.

“The Houston Rockets share our desire to give back to the community, and this year’s Season of Giving was a great opportunity to give local children an unforgettable experience with their favorite Rockets players and holiday gifts,” Lixin Cheng, CEO, ZTE USA. “Season of Giving allows us to further our long-standing tradition of serving the communities in which we work and live, something that we are very proud of as we continue to establish significant business and technology partnerships in the U.S.”

ZTE’s continued collaboration with the Houston Rockets as the team’s official smartphone sponsor represents the company’s ongoing commitment to the U.S. market, and the Season of Giving events are the latest in a long line of ZTE USA’s charitable efforts. The company has supported additional organizations such as a residential home in Kansas City, MO that offers preventative and therapeutic services to children suffering the effects of abuse and neglect, a charity golf tournament, and various events with the Boys & Girls Club.
