Pluribus Gains Recognition by CRN as the One of the "Top 10 Coolest Virtualization Startups of 2014"

PALO ALTO, Calif.--()--Pluribus Networks, the company that brings together compute, network, storage and virtualization into a single, open and programmable SDN platform, announced today that CRN, the top news source for solution providers and the IT channel, named the company one of the “top 10 coolest virtualization startups of 2014” for the second year in a row. Earlier this year, CRN also named Pluribus one of the 2014 emerging vendors in virtualization.

A few months ago, the company announced its formal Pro Channel Program, targeting value-added resellers, system integrators, as well as hardware manufacturers and IT solution vendors, and appointed Bob Layton as vice president of Americas enterprise and channel sales.

“This is a great way to end this year, as we are building our channel presence in different worldwide regions,” said Bob Layton, vice president of Americas Enterprise and Channel Sales at Pluribus Networks. “The CRN recognition comes on the heels of other industry accolades we received this year, showing both the customer demand, but also the channel’s commitment in accelerating the adoption of our SDN solution in the market.”

A recent blog post written by Robert Drost, Pluribus co-founder and chief operating officer, answers some of the questions related to the SDN market, highlighting the three major approaches to SDN and sharing what SDN actually means for networking hardware: http://www.pluribusnetworks.com/blog/detail/does-network-hardware-matter-in-an-sdn-world-cisco-vs-vmware-vs-a-startups-view/. The other Pluribus co-founder, Sunay Tripathi, shared more about SDN switching versus traditional switching in this popular blog post: http://www.pluribusnetworks.com/blog/detail/cisco-lawsuit-against-arista-driven-by-sdn/.
