Madécasse Launches Exclusive, Limited-Edition Holiday Chocolates at Whole Foods Market®

Pioneer of African-made chocolates delivers two new seasonal flavors with sweeter sourcing standards

NEW YORK--()--With the holiday season upon us, Madécasse, the only U.S. chocolate brand to make chocolate entirely in Africa, is bringing two exclusive new holiday chocolate bars to Whole Foods Market locations across the nation. The new holiday flavors, Orange Cranberry and Hazelnut, add to Madécasse’s line of fine chocolate and vanilla, which are 100 percent sustainably crafted in Madagascar.

The new Hazelnut and Orange Cranberry holiday bars go further than most sustainably sourced chocolates because they’re produced completely in Africa – from bean to bar. Like all Madécasse products, the chocolate is helping to create opportunities and jobs and supporting a prosperous African economy.

“While about 70 percent of the world’s cocoa is sourced in Africa, less than one percent of the world’s chocolate is made there,” said Tim McCollum, co-founder and co-CEO of Madécasse. “Sharing these delicious new seasonal bars with our friends and customers at Whole Foods means we can spread our unique story while increasing our positive impact in Madagascar.”

The new holiday bars are Fair for Life certified, representing four times the positive impact of fair trade cocoa alone. Spices and other ingredients are all responsibly sourced, and each bar is carefully crafted from sustainably-harvested cocoa farmed under a forest canopy in Madagascar’s northwest region. Madécasse helps protect more than 70,000 trees, helping maintain a thriving ecosystem and a safe haven for more than 65 species of plants and animals, while providing a sustainable livelihood for Malagasy cocoa farmers.

At Whole Foods Market, we seek out partners who share our commitment to a deeper purpose,” said Dwight Richmond, global grocery purchasing coordinator for Whole Foods Market. “Madécasse is reshaping the way shoppers think about and enjoy chocolate by raising expectations on both ethical sourcing and taste. We’re thrilled to continue supporting their mission by offering these two new holiday bars exclusively in our stores.”

Madécasse offers a collection of premium-grade chocolate bars, including Peppermint and Winter Spice bars announced last holiday season, as well as vanilla products and exclusive new baking chocolates, at Whole Foods Markets nationwide.
