NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), the world’s oldest and largest private cancer center, has retained CooperKatz & Company as its strategic communications partner, following a competitive review.
Named the number one hospital for cancer care in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, Memorial Sloan Kettering is looking to enhance — and expand — both its reputation and how people think about cancer. The move comes at a time when the landscape of healthcare providers, both nationally and regionally, is becoming much more competitive and complex. The appointment of CooperKatz is the next phase in MSK’s evolution, following the launch of its first new creative campaign in nearly two decades — “More Science. Less Fear.” — developed by creative agency partner Pereira & O’Dell.
“Memorial Sloan Kettering is renowned worldwide for charting new territory in cancer research and treatment,” said Ralph Katz, principal and founder of CooperKatz. “With more than 900 clinical research studies underway for pediatric and adult cancers and more than 400 different types of cancer being treated each year, MSK is doing things that no other institution is doing — and it’s a story we are privileged to have a chance to tell.”
“Since our founding, MSK has changed how the world understands cancer, and part of our mission is to share and amplify this knowledge,” said Christine Hickey, Vice President of Strategic Communications and Public Affairs at MSK. “We look forward to partnering with CooperKatz in creating a dynamic and engaging communications platform that helps people see, discuss, and understand cancer in new ways.”
CooperKatz will also work with MSK to promote its new models for broadening the reach and impact of its standards of care and clinical research program in partnership with other cancer care providers. Earlier this fall, the institution launched the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Alliance to provide accelerated access to the latest advances in cancer care and clinical trials to patients in a community setting. MSK is also expanding its geographic footprint with comprehensive outpatient care programs in New Jersey, Long Island, and Westchester County.
With the appointment, CooperKatz joins MSK’s bench of agency partners. This includes Media Storm (media AOR), DigitasLBi (digital AOR), and Phase2 (Drupal technology partner), in addition to Pereira & O’Dell on the creative side. Agency reviews were led by Joanne Davis of Joanne Davis Consulting, Inc.
