EDISON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Starborn Industries, Inc., a leading fastener manufacturer and distributor, today announced that Trex® is now recommending the Starborn® DeckFast® Fascia System for attaching Trex composite deck fascia profiles.
Trex (TREX:NYSE) has issued updated installation guidelines that include the Deckfast Fascia System as an approved fastener. These guidelines also feature specific instructions that allow builders to use fewer screws when installing fascia with Starborn’s Fascia System compared to installations with standard composite deck screws. For installations near water, Trex recommends the use of Starborn’s Headcote® stainless Fascia Screws. Finally, Trex instructions note that use of an adhesive to attach fascia boards to the rim joist, while recommended with standard composite screws as a secondary fastening system, is not required with the Deckfast Fascia System.

The Deckfast Fascia System is designed to accommodate the large amount of expansion and contraction that can occur with composite deck fascia boards due to changes in temperature and moisture. The Deckfast Fascia System consists of two components: the Fascia Tool, a pre-drilling and countersinking tool (based on Starborn’s patented Smart-Bit® technology), and Fascia Screws, color-matched screws that are available in Headcote stainless steel or epoxy-coated carbon steel. The Deckfast Fascia System is sold and packaged in two separate components: (1) the Fascia Tool for pre-drilling and countersinking and (2) 100-piece Fascia Screw packs.
