USHCC Applauds President Obama’s Executive Action on Immigration

WASHINGTON--()--The following is a statement by United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, Javier Palomarez:

"The USHCC applauds President Obama for taking bold executive action on immigration, a move that not only maximizes opportunities for future economic growth, but is also in keeping with our character as an inclusive country built by immigrants. By deferring deportation for up to 5 million immigrants, this action will allow our nation to focus enforcement resources on criminals, not hardworking and well-established families.

Now is the time to build a more responsible and fair immigration system that welcomes those who come here and wish to work, study, and contribute to our nation’s economy and way of life. As the President has said, this executive action is neither comprehensive nor permanent, but we look forward to working with both parties in Congress to pursue a long-term, bipartisan path toward immigration reform that will further strengthen our workforce, bolster communities, and foster our continued economic growth.”
