‘Give the Gift of Music’ Highlights 2014’s Best Deluxe Releases and Box Sets for Gift-Giving

Twitter contest gives fans a chance to win 10 featured releases

MARLTON, N.J.--()--Give the Gift of Music (GTGOM), a joint initiative of the Music Business Association (Music Biz) and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) that promotes the gifting of physical and digital music in all its forms, is giving music fans a one-stop resource for finding the best deluxe albums and box sets to purchase as gifts this holiday season. Available now on the GTGOM website, the list gives visitors an easy way to find the perfect gift for their music-loving friends and family.

Highlights include Beyoncé’s 2-CD 2-DVD version of her self-titled album, Led Zeppelin’s remastered vinyl editions of Houses of the Holy and Led Zeppelin IV, The Smashing Pumpkins’ 6-CD deluxe version of Adore, Taylor Swift’s deluxe edition of 1989, Bruce Springsteen’s 8-CD The Albums Collection Vol. 1, and Billy Joel’s anniversary vinyl editions of Streetlife Serenade and River of Dreams.

“Music is not only one of the most-loved gifts during the holiday season but also one of the most important,” said James Donio, President of Music Biz. “Whether it’s a single song, album, subscription, music gift card, or one of the terrific deluxe products available this year, music gifts have the potential to inspire the next generation to share their talent with the world.”

Those looking for more choices can check out the Record Store Day website for their list of exclusive releases hitting independent record stores November 28. Many are limited quantity releases, so get to the stores before they sell out. Highlights include exclusive releases from The Beatles, 5 Seconds of Summer, Ed Sheeran, Metallica, David Bowie, and Outkast.

To further promote music gifting this season, GTGOM is launching a Twitter contest in which one lucky fan will receive 10 featured releases. To enter, participants must answer the question, “Which music gift would you most like to receive this year?” on Twitter and include the hashtag #agiftofmusic. Each fan who does so will be entered into a random drawing with the winner announced on December 24. Each participant may enter the contest only once. For more information, follow @agiftofmusic.
