Smarteq AB: Smarteq Starts Development of Next-Generation Multifunction Antenna for the Bus Industry

STOCKHOLM--()--Smarteq has received a grant of SEK 500,000 for a pilot study of a next-generation multifunction antenna for the bus industry. The world market for buses is steadily growing and has passed 500,000 newly-produced buses globally, with China as the biggest market. In addition to the large volume of buses, the demand for reliable antennas for wireless transfer of data to and from buses is driven by onboard Internet, fleet management services, radio, TV.etc. In addition to buses, Smarteq also sees demand for the same platform for medium trucks.

The market also includes an aftermarket where older buses are continuously upgraded. Smarteq has been working for decades with antennas for trucks and buses.

”We appreciate the grant from the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems and see a great potential for this project. The passengers need for wireless connection in combination with future development of communications between vehicles and infrastructure, enhances the need of reliable antennas which is what this project is all about,” says Johan Hårdén, CEO of Smarteq.
