Charles Schwab Earns 2015 Military-Friendly® Employer Title for Third Consecutive Year

SAN FRANCISCO--()--The Charles Schwab Corporation has once again been named to the 2015 list of top “Military Friendly® Employers” and top Military Spouse Friendly Employers. The recognition is awarded by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse and reflects the emphasis Schwab places on recruiting and training military veterans who are joining or rejoining the workforce. Schwab will be showcased along with other 2015 Military Friendly Employers in the December issue of G.I. Jobs® magazine and the January 2015 issue of Military Spouse magazine, as well as on MilitaryFriendly.com. Schwab has additionally received multiple other awards this year for its military-friendly recruiting and onboarding practices, including:

  • Military Times Edge magazine “Best for Vets” (2014) for the fifth consecutive year
  • US Veteran Magazine’s “Best of the Best” employers for the third consecutive year
  • One of Civilianjobs.com’s Most Valuable Employers (MVE) for Military
  • One of the “Top 25 Most Influential Companies for Veterans Hiring” by Profiles in Diversity Journal

“We are very focused on recruiting qualified candidates from the military and raising awareness of the fact that Schwab is an employer of choice in the military community,” said Ryan Kosowsky, managing director of talent acquisition, who also oversees “Forward March,” Schwab’s military recruiting initiative. Kosowsky, who left active service in the U.S. Army as a major in 2012, has had a 16-year career in the military and continues to serve in the Arizona Army National Guard in addition to his role at Schwab.

“Because military veterans and reservists share Schwab values like devotion to teamwork, discipline and leadership, they fit extremely well into our company’s culture of service,” Kosowsky said. “In fact, in many ways they are ideal job candidates, and we are committed to making their re-entry into the job market and onboarding at Schwab a great experience.”

Now in its 12th year, the Military Friendly Employers designation process includes extensive research and a data-driven survey of companies with annual revenue over $500 million nationwide. The survey, methodology, criteria and weightings are developed with the assistance of an independent Advisory Board that consists of recruiting, HR and management professionals from Fortune 1000 companies across the country. The survey is administered for free and open to companies that meet the eligibility criteria and wish to participate. Criteria for consideration, along with the complete list of employers, can be found on MilitaryFriendly.com.

Schwab is also a member of the 100,000 Jobs Mission, which is a coalition of 178 companies that represent almost every industry in the American economy. Launched in 2011, the 100,000 Jobs Mission committed to hiring at least 100,000 U.S. military veterans by 2020. Collectively, the 100,000 Jobs Mission companies quickly reached that goal and doubled their commitment to hire a total of 200,000 by 2020. As of Sept. 30, 2014, more than 190,000 veterans had been hired. For more information, visit JobsMission.com.
