SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Satellite Healthcare, among the nation's leading not-for-profit providers of kidney dialysis and related services, is pleased to announce they will be participating in the American Society of Nephrology’s Kidney Week 2014 in Philadelphia, Penn. “Building New Paths to Kidney Health” is the theme of Kidney Week 2014, which takes place from November 11-16.
Dr. Wael Hussein, Stanford University research fellow at Satellite Healthcare, is presenting a poster titled “Blood Volume Monitoring during Hemodialysis Identifies Fluid Overload Not Recognized by Clinical Assessment,” which will summarize Satellite Healthcare’s study to test blood volume monitoring in more than 200 patients as they evaluate how to further optimize fluid management in patients. The presentation will take place on November 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Dr. Brigitte Schiller, Satellite Healthcare’s Chief Medical Officer, is participating in a session titled “Blood Pressure in Dialysis: Striking a Balance between Highs and Lows” presenting on Satellite Healthcare’s dialysate sodium concentration research. Satellite Healthcare was among the first to explore dialysate sodium concentration, which has since influenced a shift in dialysate sodium prescriptions across all kidney disease care providers.

“Kidney Week is an exciting time in the nephrology community, as thousands of investigators and clinicians from around the world come together,” Dr. Schiller said. “We look forward to collaborating with these top professionals and exchanging ideas and innovative research. These conversations are pertinent for the health of our patients and the future in dialysis care. ”
