MUNDELEIN, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Utopia Global, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise data solutions and a long-time SAP partner, announced the signing of a global reseller agreement with SAP (NYSE: SAP). As part of the agreement, SAP will re-sell Utopia’s Master Data Governance for Enterprise Asset Management™ (Utopia MDG for EAM™) solution under the name SAP® Master Data Governance application, enterprise asset management extension by Utopia. This will enable SAP to help its customers better manage their mission-critical plant maintenance and supply chain master data, which can lead to improved maintenance planning, increased regulatory compliance and supply-chain efficiency.
Utopia’s MDG for EAM solution provides a governance platform for master data objects specific to enterprise asset data, such as equipment master or functional locations; further objects like maintenance bills of materials, maintenance plans, task lists and work centers are planned. The solution integrates with the SAP ERP and SAP Master Data Governance applications and complements existing data models for material, supplier, customer and finance. Utopia’s MDG for EAM offering has been developed in the ABAP® programming language and is designed consistent with SAP’s architectural guidelines for managing master data, thereby offering integration with SAP ERP.
“Customers using enterprise asset management solutions typically have billions of dollars invested in capital assets,” said Arvind J. Singh, CEO of Utopia Global. “Any unplanned downtime, delays in commissioning new capital projects, or regulatory fines can often cost millions of dollars a day. The key to managing and avoiding these costly challenges is to have business processes and dashboards running on reliable asset data across all locations in an enterprise. Our solution enables organizations to maintain the integrity of critical asset data with real-time governance, thus helping to improve operational effectiveness and regulatory compliance, which can ultimately save our customers millions of dollars a year.”
Utopia’s MDG for EAM is now available to customers globally from SAP as SAP Master Data Governance, enterprise asset management extension by Utopia. The solution is backed by a suite of services offerings and training from Utopia to support successful implementation of the product.
“We are pleased to offer the Utopia MDG for EAM solution as an SAP offering, which will address an urgent customer need,” said Rodolpho Cardenuto, president, Global Partner Operations, SAP. “We anticipate that the enterprise asset management extension will deliver value quickly to our customers, providing them a highly beneficial enterprise-wide data governance platform.”
According to Aaron Zornes, chief research officer at the MDM Institute, “Management and governance of asset data has always been a critical requirement and of interest to our clients, specifically for those in energy, utilities, chemicals, mining, construction and other similar segments with large, built, maintained, or operated assets. The Utopia MDG for EAM offering is the first one of its kind that I am aware of, and it's also the first of its kind in the EAM segment related to data management and governance.”
