HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Phoenix Companies, Inc. (NYSE:PNX) was named one of the 2014 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces, a list released by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption today. Phoenix ranked 36th overall, second within the insurance industry group and eighth among medium-sized companies.
Since 2007, the Foundation has compiled an annual list of top 100 adoption-friendly workplaces compiled from its annual survey of U.S. employers. Rankings are determined by an analysis of a company’s adoption benefits, including the maximum financial reimbursement and the amount of paid leave for employees who adopt. Phoenix has been on the Foundation’s list every year since it was launched.
Phoenix offers its employees up to three weeks of paid leave within the first six months of a child’s adoption and pays 80 percent of eligible adoption-related expenses, up to $9,000 per adoption or up to $10,000 for a special needs child. These benefits can be used for up to two adoptions.
“We are pleased to be recognized once again for this long-standing policy at Phoenix," said Jody A. Beresin, executive vice president and chief administrative officer. “We believe monetary assistance and paid adoption leave are both important to families facing the unique challenges of adopting a child.”
The Foundation’s list helps increase foster care adoption awareness while celebrating businesses that support adoptive families. To view the full list, visit adoptionfriendlyworkplace.org.
