Celebrity Line Up for Chili Dogs for Charity Celebration for Pink's Hot Dogs 75th Anniversary

--()--Pink’s Hot Dogs:

WHO: Pink’s Hot Dogs, a Hollywood Legend Since 1939, set a record of selling 2,000 “Chili Dogs for Charity” in just 75 minutes compared to its usual sales of 1,500 to 2,000 hot dogs in the entire day. Pink’s, a family owned hot dog stand, is celebrating its 75th year in Hollywood selling hot dogs at the corner of La Brea and Melrose.

WHAT: To commemorate the 75th anniversary, the Pink family has been selling “Chili Dogs for Charity” for 75 cents for 75 minutes for 7 days from November 7th. On the four remaining days they will be visited at 7 p.m. by the following celebrities to help support the charity event:

  • Monday: Mario Lopez.
  • Tuesday: George Pennacchio.
  • Wednesday: Erik Estrada.
  • Thursday: Radio Star: El Cucuy

The Pink family will be donating 100% of the gross proceeds from the Chili Dogs for Charity sale to the charity of choice of these famous personalities. The limit per order will be 7 chili dogs.

WHEN: The Chili Dogs for Charity sale started last Friday, November 7, and will run for 7 days until this Thursday, November 13, every night beginning at 7 p.m. The sale occurs between 7 p.m. until 8:15. If you are in line by 8:15, you will be served even if the line lasts until much later.

WHERE: Pink’s Hot Dogs on the corner of La Brea and Melrose in Hollywood.

WHY: The Pink family is thanking Los Angeles for 75 years of loyal patronage. Pink’s was started by Paul and Betty Pink in 1939 with just a pushcart and a $50 loan. In those days, Pink’s offered curb service and hot dogs were 10 cents and cokes were a nickel. Pink’s has grown from just serving 50 to 100 hot dogs in the early years of the 1940s to now over 1500 hot dogs a day.

It is famous for its menu of over 35 types of hot dogs including the many created by famous chefs like Martha Stewart, Emeril Lagasse and Giada De Laurentiis. It is also known for its celebrity wall of fame with over 200 well-known movie and TV stars who have dined at Pink’s over the years including Jay Leno, Bill Cosby, Matt LeBlanc, Martin Lawrence, Jason Alexander and Queen Latifah. In fact, Orson Welles holds the record for the most hot dogs consumed in one sitting – 18!

HOW: The Pink family has invited various celebrities to be part of the celebration, who will greet customers and pose for pictures and help support raising money for charity through selling Pink’s Chili Dogs. It is an LA charitable event for everyone throughout Southern California to participate in by lining up to buy “Chili Dogs for Charity” and meet Mario Lopez, George Pennacchio, Erik Estrada and El Cucuy, all donating their time for charity.
