G&K Services to Host Webinar on OSHA Rules for Safe Work Practices in the Electric Utility Industry

MINNEAPOLIS--()--The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recently released updated standards for safe work practices in electric power generation, transmission, and distribution. The new regulations, known as OSHA 29 CFR 1910.269, require employers in the electric utility industry to perform arc flash assessments and provide flame resistant arc rated clothing to workers who are exposed to hazards from electric arcs. G&K Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: GK), a leading provider of uniforms and facility services programs, along with Workrite Uniform Company, will host a webinar on Friday, November 14, to help educate employers on the new OSHA standards and the requirements for personal protective equipment (PPE).

OSHA last issued rules for electric power generation, transmission, and distribution work in 1972. The updated regulations CFR29 1910.269 and 1926.960 were completed and published in the Federal Register earlier in 2014, with time lines for businesses to be in compliance. The revised standards are more consistent with other current industry standards and will enhance worker safety.

During the free webinar G&K Services and Workrite aim to educate businesses on the new OSHA ruling and what is means for companies to be in compliance. Details for the webinar are as follows:
