Time Inc. Expands Video Strategy with Development and Production Deal with Television Studio and Channels Executive Emiliano Calemzuk

Former CEO of Shine Group Americas and President of Fox Television Studios to Develop Tent-Pole Video Franchises and New Distribution Models

NEW YORK--()--Time Inc. today announced it is joining forces with respected studio and distribution executive, Emiliano Calemzuk, and his newly-formed company, Rampante, to establish a standalone development and production unit dedicated to creating a multi-platform video library. Rampante will also assist Time Inc. in developing distribution models.

“We are expanding our video strategy to leverage the breadth of our portfolio in a cohesive, high-volume way. By partnering with Emiliano, we are gaining experience in television production and international channel distribution. Moreover, without taking on unnecessary overhead, we will have an immediate presence in Los Angeles,” commented Time Inc. Chairman and CEO, Joe Ripp. “This is a natural extension of our digital video efforts—where we have experienced terrific growth in revenue and content output over the past year. It offers us the flexibility to own intellectual property and distribute it through different business models, including SVOD and linear TV, both in the U.S. and around the world.”

“I am thrilled with the opportunity to work with the editorial and publishing teams at Time Inc. in building a video presence that is commensurate with the top-notch quality of its print product,” said Calemzuk. “After spending time with executives and editors, I am convinced that the strength and depth of the Time Inc. portfolio has the potential to lead the long-form digital video world in the decades to come. I also look forward to assisting Time Inc.'s management in developing strategies to evolve the subscription model for the next generation of consumers."

Calemzuk is widely regarded in the television industry as an entrepreneurial executive. He has experience as both an operator, developing market-leading international cable networks, and as a global producer, having introduced an international co-production model during his stewardship of Fox Television Studios.

Before launching Rampante, Calemzuk spent two years as CEO of Shine Group Americas. In that role, he drove the UK-based company’s growth throughout the Americas. A long-time veteran of News Corporation, Calemzuk earlier served in a number of senior roles including President of Fox International Channels Europe and President of Fox Television Studios in Los Angeles where he developed a successful slate that included Burn Notice, White Collar and The Killing.
