PALO ALTO, Calif.--()--The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation has selected Holly Potter as its chief communications officer. Ms. Potter will assume her post on November 17, 2014. She will report into the incoming president, Harvey V. Fineberg, who joins the foundation on January 1, 2015.

“Holly’s extensive background in communications, combined with her experience in working in the non-profit, health and environment sectors, makes her an excellent fit for this role. Her depth and breadth will help advance our program strategies and further propel the foundation forward in finding and supporting bold ideas that will have an enduring impact for future generations,” said Harvey V. Fineberg, incoming president of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.

“Joining the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation is an immense honor and I am looking forward to leading the communications function to support the foundation and its work in environmental conservation, patient care, science and the San Francisco Bay Area,” said Holly Potter, incoming chief communications officer of the foundation.

Ms. Potter brings more than 20 years of experience in communications, working in the nonprofit, public and private sectors. She most recently worked at Kaiser Permanente as vice president of brand communication, a position she held for six years. Before that, she led communications for the quality improvement programs and electronic health record implementation at Kaiser Permanente. Ms. Potter has also worked at communications and public relations agencies, including her own. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Bay Area Open Space Council and the development committee for the Rosie the Riveter Trust. She was also recently named an adjunct professor at the Golden Gate University Ageno School of Business.

The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation believes in bold ideas that create enduring impact in the areas of science, environmental conservation and patient care. Intel co-founder Gordon and his wife Betty established the foundation to create positive change around the world and at home in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our environmental conservation efforts promote sustainability, protect critical ecological systems and align conservation needs with human development. Patient care focuses on eliminating preventable harms and unnecessary health care costs by meaningfully engaging patients and their families in a redesigned, supportive health care system. Science looks for opportunities to transform – or even create – entire fields by investing in early-stage research, emerging fields and top research scientists.
