ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DEKRA North America (NA), Inc. today announced that Ken Meissner has been named to the new role of Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions for DEKRA Automotive. In this role, Meissner will be responsible for leading and implementing an aggressive acquisition and organic growth strategy for the Automotive Inspections Group, which offers independent and unbiased vehicle emission and safety inspections for consumer and commercial vehicles.
Meissner will be based in Atlanta and will report directly to Donald O. Nicholson, President and Chief Regional Officer of DEKRA NA. He will continue to serve as a member of the DEKRA Automotive Senior Leadership Team.
“We are very excited to have Mr. Meissner take on this new role, which will allow him to put his full focus on our expansion initiatives,” said Nicholson. “He has been instrumental in the growth and success of DEKRA’s automotive inspections line of business, and will be a great asset as we move forward with our ambitious acquisition and growth plans.”
Before taking on his new role, Meissner served as DEKRA’s Vice President of Automotive Inspections. Under his leadership, the number of DEKRA emission and safety inspection stations in the U.S. increased over 40 percent and expanded geographically to include the states of California, Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas. So far in 2014, DEKRA has purchased four stations and opened three additional organic stations. Meissner has worked for DEKRA since they began operations in North America 11 years ago, and has over 24 years of experience in the automotive inspections industry.
“While I will miss the day-to-day responsibilities of handling DEKRA’s emission and safety inspection operations, I am looking forward to focusing all of my attention on identifying key acquisition opportunities and growing this line of business,” said Meissner. “Right now, we are aggressively seeking opportunities in California, Utah, North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, and Ontario (Canada) in the mandated vehicle emission and safety inspection programs area, so there is a lot that we want to accomplish.”
