IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OSI, a leading provider of global supply chain managed solutions for point-of-purchase (POP) displays, consumer product packaging and branded merchandise programs, today announced it received a Gold Award at the 2014 Design of the Times award ceremony at the 2014 Shopper Marketing Conference & Expo held in Minneapolis, Minn. OSI was recognized for its in-store Samsung 12 Camera Security Display in the mass merchandisers category.
The Design of the Times awards celebrate the most inspiring and creative in-store activation tactics and campaigns. For more than 20 years, the competition has honored hundreds of leading brands, retailers, agencies, POP and packaging design firms for exceptional in-store solutions.
With 12 working cameras and a clean, sleek look, OSI’s display for Samsung’s 12 camera security system captured the audience and the judges’ attention with a live video feed featuring shopper traffic. Showing the system’s functionality in real life applications, the video monitor engaged consumers and drew them in to the display as they stopped to see themselves on-screen. Accompanying the monitor was a combination of informational graphics, features and benefits that provided consumers with everything they needed to know to make a purchasing decision.
“We consistently strive to bring the most unique, innovative and engaging point-of-purchase displays to each of our clients. This prestigious award is a testament to our entire team’s dedication and ongoing commitment to providing strategic and creative designs that connect with consumers in a retail space,” said Joe Baksha, president and chief executive officer of OSI. “Out of hundreds of entries considered, we are honored to be recognized.”
Design of the Times entries are categorized into eight retail channels – consumer electronic stores, convenience stores, drug stores, home/hardware stores, mass merchandisers, specialty stores, sporting goods stores and supermarket/grocery stores – before being judged. Throughout two rounds of judging, hundreds of entries are scored on a scale from one to ten based on their ability to meet the four C’s of effective in-store activation: commanding attention, connecting with the audience, conveying information and closing the sale. Entries with the highest composite score in each category received an award.
The Design of the Times Gold Award is OSI’s fifth industry award this year. The company also received four Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) Awards from Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI).
