Guardian® Names Anthony S. Marino as Chief Human Resources Officer

25-year industry veteran to head human resources team for leading insurer

NEW YORK--()--The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America® (Guardian), one of the nation’s largest mutual life insurers and a leading provider of employee benefits, today announced it has appointed Anthony S. Marino, Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer. His primary responsibilities will be leading the human resources team in its continued support of Guardian’s strategy in close partnership with business leaders. Mr. Marino will be based in New York City and will report to Deanna Mulligan, Guardian’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Marino brings over 25 years of human resources experience to Guardian and is acclaimed for his talent development on a global scale. He most recently served as General Manager of Global Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, one of the largest bank holding companies in the world, where he was the first American appointed to an office in Japan. Mr. Marino was previously Chief Human Resources Officer at Ally Financial, where he was instrumental in the restructuring and turnaround of the nation’s largest auto finance company.

Mr. Marino is chairman of the University of North Carolina - Wilmington International Advisory Board. He is also a frequent lecturer on human resources topics and the author of a leadership development workbook series titled “The LeaderSource” in addition to numerous articles on leadership and performance. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Ohio University.
