Stop & Shop’s Support Our Troops Program Aims to Raise Funds To Benefit The USO and Wounded Warrior Project

Customers Are Able to Donate and Receive Coupon Booklets From October 30-November 13th

BOSTON--()--The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC has just announced the Support Our Troops Program for a second year. The company is committed to being a better neighbor and give back to the communities in which it operates and believes supporting the troops who serve our country and their families is an incredibly important mission.

To honor and support service members, past and present, especially during the Veterans Day timeframe, starting October 30th through November 13th, customers are given the opportunity to donate $1 at the checkout to benefit the USO and Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP). To thank customers for their support Stop & Shop is giving a booklet with $4 worth of coupons in return.

For more than 70 years, the USO is the only organization that serves the U.S. military and their families throughout their service, from the moment they join, through deployments and as they transition back in civilian life. The USO provides programs, entertainment and services to all branches of the military at more than 160 center locations worldwide and is how America says “thank you” to our troops and their families.

“We are so grateful to Stop & Shop for supporting our troops and giving back to those who protect and serve our country. It’s because of such partnerships that the USO is able to continually support, comfort, connect and entertain troops and their families in new and meaningful ways,” said USO New England Director Jean Mallon.

The mission of Wounded Warrior Project is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors. WWP currently serves more than 60,000 injured services members and their families through 20, free programs and services that are designed to focus on mind, body, economic empowerment and engagement.

“Our vision is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of injured service members in our nation’s history,” said Brea Kratzert, director of strategic partnerships for Wounded Warrior Project. “The only way we are able to work toward that audacious goal is because of the generosity of the American people and corporations like Stop & Shop. The Support Our Troops Program is a tremendous opportunity for us to raise funds and bring awareness to the lifetime needs of warriors. Thank you to Stop & Shop and all who contribute to this great program.”

The campaign successfully raised over $100,000 last year. All proceeds go directly to support service members, veterans, and their families, many of whom live locally.

“This campaign truly benefits our heroes and honors their sacrifices by supporting organizations that provide them with the programs and services they and their families need to live healthy and resilient lives.” Said Joe Kelley, President, Stop & Shop New England Division. “We are so pleased also that many veterans and their families in our local communities are positively impacted by Support Our Troops Program thorough the great work of the USO and Wounded Warrior Project.”
