CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The business solutions division of The Second City – Second City Communications – takes the stage at Chicago’s Chase Bank Auditorium on October 22 for a special event to mark the 25th anniversary of the popular public radio business program, Marketplace.
The live event, co-hosted by Marketplace and Chicago’s premier public radio station, WBEZ-FM, is titled How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Numbers. The evening is designed as an irreverent and insightful look at how numbers dominate our lives – in business and elsewhere.
Second City Communications CEO, Tom Yorton, will join Marketplace host Kai Ryssdal – along with a handful of Second City actors and other guests and reporters – to explore how make sense of the numbers that are so omnipresent in daily life.
“This is where we excel – in unpacking a topic that is typically dry and boring,” said Tom Yorton. “We are excited to join the Marketplace folks and to show how improv and comedy are natural for demystifying many topics and engaging audiences anywhere – live, virtual, or online,” added Yorton.
The October 22nd Chicago event is the next in a series of live events that Marketplace has staged nationally as it celebrates its 25th anniversary, including previous stops in Washington D.C., New York, Cleveland, Aspen, and Houston, with a final stop next month in Los Angeles.
WBEZ’s website write-up on the evening offers more hints at what to expect on October 22nd: “The Dow. The NASDAQ. Weekly unemployment. Numbers like these parade through our daily lives, in headlines, on TV and the radio. But what if these numbers hold some surprises? What if each and every one has an interesting story? What if they can actually be presented with a little [gasp] fun?
The Marketplace event begins at 7PM on October 22nd. Tickets are available for purchase online here.
