(NASDAQ: SPLK), provider of the leading software platform for real-time Operational Intelligence, today announced that Marc Olesen has joined the Splunk executive team as senior vice president and general manager, cloud solutions. In this role, Olesen will have worldwide responsibility for Splunk’s cloud strategy and serve as the leader of a cross-functional cloud team that includes experts in product development, product management, marketing, business development, sales and field technical services.

Olesen was previously president and CEO of Averail, a provider of cloud-based, secure mobile content solutions, which was recently acquired by MobileIron. Prior to Averail, Olesen was senior vice president and general manager of McAfee, leading the network, content and cloud security business units. In this role, he led the worldwide growth strategy and drove unified operations for engineering, marketing and sales. Prior to McAfee, Olesen was vice president of the software-as-a-service unit at Mercury Interactive and continued to lead that business following its acquisition by HP. He also held leadership positions at DNAnexus, Qwest CyberSolutions, BearingPoint, Remedy and Oracle.
