AppLovin Expands International Presence, Enters into Germany and UK Markets

Fastest growing mobile advertising technology company acquires Berlin-based Moboqo in its aggressive international expansion

SAN FRANCISCO--()--AppLovin, a mobile marketing platform that enables brands to profitably acquire and re-engage customers, announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Berlin-based Moboqo, a premium global mobile advertising network that allows leading mobile game developers to monetize their games and find new players at scale. Coupled with recent significant hires in the UK and APAC regions, this acquisition accelerates AppLovin’s aggressive global expansion.

Moboqo’s strong European presence and key location in central Europe will increase AppLovin’s geographical reach and reinforce their commitment to continue to scale traffic and increase ad revenue. The acquisition will connect AppLovin with a talented industry team who has deep relationships with the top game developers in EMEA and connections in Berlin’s thriving developer community. The Moboqo team will help AppLovin broaden their reach to key gaming companies leveraging partnerships with European game developers for both advertising and monetization.

“We’re thrilled to expand our footprint in Europe, a market that is increasingly valuable for us as a global technology company,” said Adam Foroughi, co-founder & CEO of AppLovin. “With Moboqo’s talented team, we look forward to increasing the acceleration of our European business. Moboqo is a perfect addition to our creative culture while we onboard new clients to our portfolio and build forward-thinking global teams.”

"We strongly believe in AppLovin's mission to leverage the power of data to personalize the mobile advertising experience," said Moboqo co-founder Johannes Heinze. "We are thrilled to join AppLovin as their first non-US office and look forward to becoming an integral aspect of their continued global growth," added co-founder Thomas Heinze.

Recently AppLovin has moved aggressively into international markets. Earlier this year the company hired Simon Spaull, former GM of AKQA and CRO of TBG Digital, as the MD of EMEA. AppLovin also recently appointed Norikazu Hayashi, previously a director at GREE, head of APAC sales.

AppLovin’s run rate is on track to exceed $100M in 2014. Its business is growing 10% month-over-month as more advertisers adopt its user acquisition and re-engagement platform. August 2014 was the company’s highest revenue month of all time.
