AUSTIN, Texas--()--HID Global®, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, today announced that its FARGO® HDP5000 Card Printer/Encoder has been selected by Security Products Magazine as a winner of the 2014 New Product of the Year competition. The award honors the outstanding product development achievements of security equipment manufacturers whose products are considered particularly noteworthy in their ability to improve security.

“HID Global is honored to receive this recognition for our enhanced FARGO HDP5000 Card Printer/Encoder that provides the highest image quality available for ID badges while offering a streamlined solution for creating technology cards with embedded electronics,” said Craig Sandiness, vice president of Product Marketing, Secure Issuance with HID Global. “With its support of legacy and high frequency credential technologies, the HDP5000 built-in encoder makes it an ideal solution for organizations moving to higher security solutions that can be used for multiple applications.”

The printer/encoder provides superior print quality, high reliability and durability, and greater security when producing ID badges and creating/encoding secure identities. The solution’s built-in iCLASS SE Encoder allows one-step, inline encoding of secure identity data onto the industry's most common credential technologies, including HID Prox, standard iCLASS®, iCLASS SE, Seos®, MIFARE®, MIFARE DESFire® EV1 and future technologies. This makes it easier for organizations to manage large facilities with multiple sites and secure access points, where administrators can order blank cards and program them with users’ secure identity credentials. The printer/encoder solution can also use high durable film ribbons to provide longer card life and three times the durability, without needing an added laminator.
