CEA Applauds FCC for Incentivizing Mobile Innovation and Upcoming Spectrum Auction

ARLINGTON, Va.--()--The following statement is attributable to Julie Kearney, vice president of regulatory affairs at the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, regarding today’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC) open meeting:

“Today the FCC made important strides in conducting the world’s first-ever TV broadcast spectrum incentive auction. CEA applauds the commission for its continuous hard work to ensure a successful auction. By considering proposals that allow for more robust use of unlicensed spectrum without increasing the risk of harmful interference to other users, the FCC is helping to pave the way for future mobile innovation. We look forward to reviewing the items and appreciate the FCC staff’s work in engaging key stakeholders in this crucial process.”

During the FCC open meeting three key items were voted on by the FCC: expanding the Economic and Innovation Opportunities of Spectrum Through Incentive Auctions, Part 15 and Wireless Microphone provisions of the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. These considerations will help incentivize and also ensure a smooth upcoming spectrum auction.
