CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NCS Energy Services Chief Technology Officer Don Getzlaf has received SPE’s Regional Completions Optimization & Technology Award for Canada. He received the award at the Canada regional awards luncheon, held in Calgary on September 30. Getzlaf is a professional engineer with more than 30 years of oilfield experience, specializing in cementing, well construction, and completions. He has authored numerous papers related to the materials and methods of oilfield cementing, and holds a number of patents and pending patents related to those disciplines. With global experience garnered through working for several multinational companies, Getzlaf’s expertise and innovation are widely respected among industry veterans around the world. He was a key contributor to development of the NCS's patented Multistage Unlimited frac-isolation system, the world's leading coiled-tubing-enabled, multistage completion technology.
Marty Stromquist, NCS chief operating officer and long-time friend of Getzlaf, said, "Over the past 30 years Don has demonstrated his passion and ability to change the status quo through innovations. Don was a farm boy who graduated at the top of his class from University of Saskatchewan. He started out in our industry watching, wondering and always asking ‘why?’. His foundational belief is that there are always at least two ways to do things. No matter what, Don tries to improve or create safer and better ways to get the job done in the lab, in the plant, on the job site or on the farm. As chief technology officer at NCS, Don continues to produce new and innovative solutions to industry challenges."
