Xplore Technologies Awarded Contract From One of the World’s Top Tier Airlines

Airline to deploy Xplore XC6 ultra-rugged tablets for use in airport ground operations

AUSTIN, Texas--()--Xplore Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: XPLR), manufacturer of the most powerful, longest-lasting, ultra-rugged and fully-rugged tablets, announced today that it received its first order as part of a multi-million dollar project for one of the world’s largest airlines. Xplore’s XC6 Windows tablet PCs will be utilized by the airline’s ground crews at airports throughout the U.S.

“As Xplore’s flagship tablet, the XC6 has generations of rugged design and engineering built in, as well as features that make it not only a high performance computer, but also durable enough to withstand the harsh conditions of airport ground operations,” said Philip S. Sassower, CEO and chairman of the board for Xplore Technologies. “This order is the initial phase of an enterprise-level project and additional orders are expected as the project rolls out at airports around the country.”

The airline, which operates multiple hubs and locations throughout the continental U.S. and across the globe, will use Xplore Technologies ultra-rugged tablets mounted on open-top vehicles operating outside in the elements 24 hours a day, year-round. The ultra-rugged XC6 was selected for its impressive computing power, offering Intel’s fourth generation Core i5 and i7 processor options, as well as the ability to operate in temperatures ranging from -34⁰F to 140⁰F. The units will be mounted on airport vehicles operating outside on the ramp, using Xplore Technologies’ custom waterproof docking solution, the xDIM Pro, which allows the dock to be used in the wettest conditions.

“Being selected by one of the largest airlines in the world to provide on-the-ground, durable technology that can withstand the extreme environments of airports is a testament to Xplore’s rugged technology,” said Mark Holleran, president and COO. “Xplore’s ultra-rugged technology is proven to reduce downtime for field workers and excel in the toughest environments.”

The XC6 is certified MIL-STD-810G, rated dust and waterproof (IP67), and can withstand repeated seven-foot drops. The XC6 features the most advanced sunlight readable display that is easy to read in direct sunlight. It also features glove-touch technology that enables use of the device with gloves on as well as when the screen is wet or dirty.
