InTown Suites Continues Investment in Hampton Roads

ATLANTA--()--Last month, Atlanta based InTown Suites, a leading provider of apartment alternative accommodations, purchased four extended stay hotels in southern Virginia. The properties, formerly Savannah Suites, are located in Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News and Norfolk, and give InTown Suites eight locations in the area.

“We are very excited about our recent expansion in Hampton Roads,” said Jonathan Pertchik, Chief Executive Officer of InTown Suites. “I am particularly excited about the local labor pool and the great people who have joined the team. Such dedicated employees make the difference between InTown and our competitors. We are confident in the economic future of the area and will continue to invest in these properties and the local workforce.”

InTown Suites currently employs 55 people in the Hampton Roads area and almost 70 across Virginia. Through the purchase InTown has added 27 new employees to its family. We are excited to welcome these new team members and will invest heavily in their training and development to ensure mutual success,” said Larriaun Alligood, InTown Suites’ Market Manager and Portsmouth native. “InTown Suites is a great place to work. We offer excellent compensation and benefits, and the opportunity for career advancement.” Alligood herself started with the company as a General Manager at InTown Suites’ Newport News North location and now oversees eleven InTown Suites properties in Virginia and North Carolina.

The company is also making a substantial capital investment in the buildings to improve the guest experience and to use less energy. “Immediately after we bought these properties, we began improving them. Most noticeably to our guests, we installed 42” HDTVs in every room at every property. As many of these rooms still had small, outdated tube TVs, this upgrade was very well received,” said Alligood. “We are also replacing over 150 room air conditioners/heaters with larger, more efficient units to make our guests more comfortable.”

“In the coming months, we will be adding ultra high-speed wifi to these properties and at every other InTown location as well,” said CEO Pertchik.

InTown Suites offers a unique blend of apartment style accommodations with hotel like amenities. The company first came to the area in 1997 when it opened a 133-suite property in the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake. Today, InTown has eight locations with more than 1000 suites in Hampton Roads. “Our Tidewater roots run deep,” said Pertchik, “and we look forward to becoming an even greater part of this community.”
