GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As part of its commitment to support the local arts community, Bellco has partnered with OneWall Project to launch a contest celebrating the talent of Colorado’s artists. Beginning today, local artists can nominate an original piece for a chance to be featured on a mural in downtown Denver.
The mural will be installed on the building located at 420 W. 12th Ave. The building is located near the intersection of 12th Avenue and Speer Boulevard and is visible to tens of thousands of commuters each day.
Artists 18 years of age or older can submit their original artwork for consideration today through Sept. 14, 2014. Artists may submit multiple pieces for consideration, but may submit each piece only once.
Artists can enter the contest, as well as find full details and official rules at: http://woobox.com/jsgqer.
The top three finalists will be selected by a panel made up of representatives from Bellco and local art gallery owners. The finalists will be announced on Sept. 22 on the OneWall Project’s Facebook page, and the public will be able to vote for their favorite piece from Sept. 22 through Sept. 29. The artist with the most public votes will be selected as the winner and announced on Sept. 30. The winner’s work will then be printed and installed by OneWall Project at 420 W. 12th Avenue, where it will be displayed for six months.
The contest is part of a multi-faceted program presented by OneWall Project and Bellco to celebrate the local arts. Bellco is currently sponsoring a mural at 14th and Champa streets that includes a collage of local work from RedLine Denver’s artist residency program. A second mural also is on display at 12th Street and Speer Blvd., and features a painting by nationally recognized artist Michael Kagan. The program culminates with this contest as a way to celebrate the growing local art scene and give artists the opportunity to have their work displayed on a large scale.
“The art scene in Denver has grown into such a vibrant, thriving community, and we see the importance it plays in our local culture,” said Jim Johnston, senior marketing manager for Bellco. “We’re proud to partner with OneWall to make these pieces stand out in our city for everyone to enjoy, and to help give an up-and-coming local artist the opportunity to become recognized.”
