BELMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--LakePharma, a leading protein engineering contract research organization, is hosting its second annual Antibody Engineering Symposium this October 9th & 10th. The 2014 Symposium will be held at the South San Francisco Conference Center, and registration is filling up quickly. This year’s event will continue the discussion from last year: highlighting the latest advances in antibody development and innovative technologies that are enhancing the next generation of protein therapeutics and products. This event is the largest gathering of protein engineers in the Bay Area and serves as an excellent networking platform.
“With the San Francisco Bay Area, and South San Francisco in particular, being one of the world hubs for biotechnology research, a goal of [LakePharma’s] is to bring the community closer together so that scientists and research professionals can work together to tackle the challenges faced during the drug discovery process,” LakePharma Account Manager Nick Fortes said. “This forum allows us to do just that without the heavy price tag and travel of a show like PepTalk or PEG.”
The symposium is designed to benefit scientists currently working in the biopharmaceutical industry who want to improve their awareness of the latest advancements in protein engineering and antibody discovery, as well as non-scientists who seek a better understanding of the processes, challenges and opportunities in the industry.
The first day will focus on antibody discovery and engineering techniques with a keynote address from Aaron Sato, V.P. of Research at Sutro BioPharma and includes presentations from Rinat/Pfizer, UCSF, Stanford and OMT, Inc.
Day two is split into two sessions. The morning will focus on Products, Therapeutics and Pipeline with a keynote presentation from David Meininger, Executive Director at Merck. The afternoon will focus on CMC and Manufacturing Strategies, and presentations from Amgen, OncoMed, Genentech and GE Life Sciences fill the day’s agenda.
Interested participants can find more information on the symposium from the event’s website www.lakepharma.com/AES2014.
