Intertek Named an Approved Test Lab for Motorola’s Made for Motorola (M4DE) Program

Intertek now authorized to test and certify accessories for use with Motorola devices

CTIA 2014

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.--()--Intertek, a leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, has been named an approved test lab for Motorola’s “Made for Motorola” (M4DE) program. As an approved lab, Intertek is authorized to test accessories intended for use on Motorola devices against established performance criteria. Accessories that meet the criteria are named “Made for Motorola” and bear the M4DE mark, meaning that they are certified for use with Motorola devices.

“As a company dedicated to helping manufacturers and suppliers develop quality products that are safer for users, we were very interested in becoming a part of the M4DE program,” says David Dennis, Vice President, Wireless, Intertek. “With this designation Intertek can now provide accessory manufacturers with access to a global network of labs – including an extensive network of U.S. labs – unmatched technical expertise and complete safety and performance testing capabilities for faster market access.”

The scope of testing that Intertek will perform for this program includes mechanical, electrical, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and Total Isotropic Sensitivity (TIS) and Total Radiated Power (TRP) testing. In addition to measuring impact of the accessory on the device, these criteria will help Intertek measure the overall mechanical performance of the accessory itself. Intertek can conduct the performance testing to help manufacturers gain the M4DE mark, but can also provide the mandatory product safety testing for accessories under this program.

Intertek participated in a rigorous validation program to demonstrate its ability to test products’ impact on certain Motorola devices. Motorola reviewed and accepted Intertek’s test reports to approve Intertek as a test lab.

Manufacturers seeking more information about the program or who are interested in having their accessories tested for acceptance into M4DE can visit Intertek at booth 5832 during CTIA’s Super Mobility Week in Las Vegas on September 9-11. Or, they may contact Intertek directly at 1-800-967-5352.
