IdeaMarket Launches a Startup Marketplace Bringing Together Talent, Money and Ideas

New startup platform combines the best concepts of Kickstarter, AngelList, Quirky, and XPrize to launch new companies based on great ideas

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Idealab Founder Bill Gross has partnered with entrepreneur VJ Anma to create IdeaMarket, a new company and marketplace dedicated to removing the “friction” from starting great companies. Investors submit pre-funded high level ideas, the public submits feedback on the ideas, and qualified technical folks enter their plans to compete for the investment and whoever “wins” proceeds to build the company. Select participants in the process can earn equity or other profit interests in the companies founded. Currently, there are more than 20 ideas and $2.5 million investment available on the platform already.*

“IdeaMarket makes it efficient for talent, money, and ideas to find one another,” said Bill Gross, founder and Chairman. Gross has started more than 100 companies in his 40-year entrepreneurial career, and he created IdeaMarket to foster entrepreneurship and turbocharge startups into successful companies. “IdeaMarket’s goal is to someday help create one million businesses that positively impact more than a billion people.”

IdeaMarket allows and encourages visitors to the site to not only contribute ideas, but also to vote on them, improve upon them, and for accredited investors, invest in them. “IdeaMarket taps into the wisdom and the wallets of the crowd to create great companies,” said VJ Anma, co-founder and CEO of IdeaMarket.

IdeaMarket is launching with more than 20 ideas in diverse areas such as 3D printing of lenses, outsourced x-ray reading, pizza delivery robots and an on-demand trash pickup. Ideas during private beta have already been submitted by entrepreneurs, business consultants, professors, and investors such as Max Levchin, Scott Banister, Don Dodge, and Shervin Pishevar, and more are coming online every day.

“We are looking to work not only with individuals with great ideas, but also universities, corporations, think-tanks and anyone who has intellectual assets that are not currently being monetized,” said Gross. “We hope to improve the world by turning these ideas into vibrant companies that bring them to market.”
