DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Perkins Healthcare Technologies is pleased to announce the selection of its Patient Observation & Fall Management Solution to be showcased at the 2014 Novation Innovative Technology Expo. The Expo will be held on September 10, 2014 at the Irving Convention Center.
The RoomVision Patient Observation & Fall Management Solution helps improve patient safety and care by monitoring multiple at-risk patients from one centralized control station.
In the US, more than 700,000 patient falls result in 210,000 injuries annually. These injuries produce an additional $50,000 in costs per patient that are not reimbursable.
Perkins’ Patient Observation & Fall Management Solution can help prevent patient falls, reduce associated costs, and improve the overall efficiency of the staff.
The RoomVision patient solution features an innovative privacy masking technology, virtual boundary lines with alerts, a private secure network and a series of “alarm fatigue” tools to minimize false alarms. These tools include a unique Adaptive Learning technology that automatically filters persistent motions that may occur in the patient’s room. In addition, a sensitivity setting allows for adjustments that can reduce or expand motion detection parameters. There is also a motion duration setting (number of seconds) that can be adjusted so an alarm will not trigger unless the motion occurs for that time period.
If an alert is triggered, the staff can talk to the patient through an intercom system and prevent a potential fall with at-risk patients. Alerts can also be forwarded to the staff’s communication devices.
