OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--()--It’s difficult to compare outcomes or improve care through collaboration when your state’s mental health, alcoholism and substance abuse treatment providers use 1,810 different assessment plans and 2,100 varieties of treatment styles. That’s exactly what New York was dealing with before leaders in those respective fields came together to create the New York State Clinical Record Initiative (NYSCRI). Now Netsmart -- the nation’s largest provider of behavioral health information technology solutions – has obtained NYSCRI certification for its myAvatar™ and myEvolv™ CareRecord™ electronic health record (EHR) solutions.

“As New York behavioral health and substance use treatment providers move from paper to electronic health records, they can feel confident they’re adhering to the requirements of payers and providers,” said Netsmart CEO Mike Valentine. “More importantly, they’ll be working within a framework aimed at improving care for their clients.”

Ninety-three different New York providers – from health homes to hospitals to treatment centers – use myAvatar™ or myEvolv™ to integrate care and optimize organizational efficiencies. “While the certification is voluntary, it provides the critical functionality our clients need, streamlining their workflows and maximizing their ability to improve outcomes.”

Created specifically for health and human services provider organizations, myAvatar and myEvolv are certified EHRs that support, improve and integrate the care delivery process seamlessly across all levels of care.

New York State’s health system serves more than 700,000 people every year through inpatient and outpatient programs, to emergency, residential and family care programs. NYSCRI was created by the Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS). It first launched as a pilot program on Long Island. NYSCRI documentation is now available statewide.
