Medicaid Program CoventryCares Changes Name to Aetna Better Health of Nebraska

Delivers top rated health plan, customer service, and physician communication

OMAHA, Neb.--()--CoventryCares of Nebraska, a State-contracted local Medicaid managed health care organization, is changing its name to Aetna Better Health of Nebraska, effective August 25. The name change follows the acquisition of Coventry Health Care, Inc. by Aetna, Inc. (NYSE: AET) in May, 2013.

Services provided to more than 103,000 CoventryCares members that are delivered through its network of 6,880 individual providers, 800 ancillary providers and over 100 hospitals will not change. Benefits such as doctor and hospital coverage, childhood immunizations, medical equipment and preventive exams remain covered. A new customer service unit will open in the Omaha office, adding ten new jobs to the existing 200 Coventry provides to the local market.

CoventryCares of Nebraska has been serving Nebraskans since 2010. In that time, it has consistently achieved better than industry ratings for its health plan, the care it coordinates for Nebraskans and the communication of physicians.

In a recent customer survey, 96 percent are satisfied with the quality of service provided by CoventryCares while the program achieved a 97 percent positive customer service rating.

CoventryCares also currently holds a "Commendable Accreditation” by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). NCQA accreditation evaluates how well a health plan manages all parts of its delivery system—physicians, hospitals, other providers, and administrative services—in order to continuously improve health care for its members.

“Keeping Nebraskans healthy and ensuring they have access to the care they need at the right time and in the right place remains the number one priority for us,” said Shelley Wedergren, CEO of Aetna Better Health of Nebraska. “Our Aetna Better Health physicians, nurses and social and outreach workers are committed to facilitating the delivery of high quality health care for our Medicaid members.”
