SIGGRAPH 2014

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--()--Teradici® and Dell today introduced new software for Dell Precision workstations that gives mobile workers instant access to a rich remote computing experience – whether from a conference room, home office, or on-the-go. With Teradici PCoIP® Workstation Access Software, companies can offer employees the freedom to work from any location with an ultra-secure, easy-to-deploy solution. Ideally suited to small- and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) in architecture, construction, engineering and manufacturing, the new software client can be installed in less than five minutes for a seamless connection from any compatible end point.

Today’s news from SIGGRAPH Vancouver 2014 extends the companies’ successful partnership over the past 5+ years in which Teradici PCoIP technology has become a key ingredient of desktops and workstations in Dell’s broad portfolio of enterprise products. Teradici PCoIP Workstation Access Software is compatible with existing Dell Precision workstations, and newly-introduced tower and rack models announced today. The new software will be available for download at the Dell Online Store and through Dell’s channel partners.

“The era of work anyplace, anytime, on any machine with access to your full database, applications and project files is upon us,” said Dr. Jon Peddie, president of Jon Peddie Research. “Teradici has been a leading innovator in the market for remote graphics. Teradici and Dell have made remote workstation technology accessible, giving IT management a simple, low cost way to add remote visualization.”

“With Teradici PCoIP Workstation Access Software for Dell Precision, customers can enable their employees to instantly and securely access their workstations from anywhere with a rich remote user experience across the network,” said Andy Rhodes, executive director for Dell Precision workstation solutions. “The ability to access applications from Windows devices will offer a new level of flexibility and productivity for mobile workers, with iOS and Android support on track for release in the coming months. This new software builds on our existing remote access solutions, so we’re excited to bring the benefits of this easy-to-deploy solution to Dell Precision workstation customers.”

The new software includes PCoIP remote visualization technology, which ensures all user data and computing applications are transmitted as pixel-only images – not data – making it possible for IT management to protect corporate intellectual property and sensitive internal data, while enabling end users to access their workstations remotely over LAN or WAN connections. The initial PCoIP Workstation Access Software release is ideal for Dell tower workstations in deskside deployments, allowing for remote access to the user’s physical workstation from any location, while ensuring local native performance at their desk. Future product releases will support Dell rack mount virtualized or physical workstations in the data center.

“This introduction marks a significant milestone for our partnership with Dell,” said Dan Cordingley, president and CEO of Teradici. “Together, we’ve collaborated to bring feature-rich, high-fidelity computing resources on remote workstations and virtual desktops to hundreds of thousands of end users in a variety of markets over the past several years. Building on our successful track record, Teradici is delighted to join Dell in delivering PCoIP Workstation Access Software for existing and new Dell Precision hardware to a growing base of customers.”

“We’re pleased to team with Dell and Teradici to deliver greater workplace flexibility for our mutual customers,” said Andrew Cresci, General Manager, GRID at NVIDIA. “All classes of business now have a simple, reliable, low-cost way to remotely connect to a high performance visual computing experience from NVIDIA GRID. Whether presenting CAD ideas to a client or rendering a 3D model on the road, a broader base of users have access to workstation power and the freedom to access their favorite CAD/CAM and engineering applications everywhere, over any network.”

Teradici PCoIP Workstation Access Software for Dell Precision will be generally available in North America, starting in August 2014, followed by a phased global rollout by the end of the first half of 2015. The new software is optimized for NVIDIA K2000 or higher (GRID SDK 2.2), and is compatible with any discrete GPU (e.g., AMD, NVIDIA), plus it runs on the latest 3D APIs (OpenGL and DirectX).

Key benefits of Teradici PCoIP Workstation Access Software (Release 1.0) are:

  • High quality images: The leading Teradici PCoIP protocol compresses and encrypts pixels to enable outstanding remote workstation performance.
  • Remote access from anywhere: Highly flexible solution supports BYOD, allowing for remote access from anywhere around the world.
  • Ultra-secure access: PCoIP technology only transmits pixels, not data, providing assurance to IT that corporate IP will be protected against loss or theft.
  • Direct connect: Easy to deploy and doesn’t require set up of a third party broker to get started.
  • Local collaboration: Local workstation user can share their screen with one remote user leveraging the same Windows OS account.
  • Application independent: PCoIP technology sends pixels, regardless of the applications being used and types of content being generated.
  • Broad client support: The software connects seamlessly with Teradici PCoIP Software Clients (Windows OS and Mac OS) as well as PCoIP Zero Clients (Dell Wyse P25, Dell Wyse P45), with support for additional end points planned for future releases.
  • High performance 3D: Utilizing NVIDIA GRID enables even the most demanding 3D applications to be operated remotely with an experience that feels like you’re working from your local workstation.
