BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Reynders, McVeigh Capital Management, a socially progressive investment management firm, hosted their first Social Innovation prize reception on August 5. The prize, valued at $10,000, was split between two organizations, with $5,000 awarded to Janji, a socially responsible running apparel brand and $5,000 issued to Root Cause, a non-profit organization and host of the Social Innovation Forum.
The prize comes on the heels of Root Cause’s 2014 Social Innovation Forum, where social entrepreneurs pitched their ideas to investors- the Reynders, McVeigh team sought to choose a prize winner with a progressive vision and potential to make a large impact.
“We are excited to witness companies like Janji help contribute to a global need,” said Patrick McVeigh President and Chief Investment Officer. “We know many runners want to leave their footprints on both the pavement and the world—and purchasing Janji’s apparel is part of that quest. We are honored to award them with this year’s Social Innovation Prize.”
"It's been great to connect with Reynders McVeigh and to introduce them to Janji,” said Susan Musinsky, Director of Root Cause's Social Innovation. “We’re privileged to work with so many social entrepreneurs and investors alike.”
“It’s an honor to receive Reynders, McVeigh’s social innovation prize,” said Dave Spandorfer, Janji’s CEO. “It’s great to see socially responsible investment firms standing behind companies like us that are trying to make a difference.”
