  • Agreement allows GIC Group to help RF Biocidics identify joint ventures as well as grant opportunities in the region.
  • GIC Group Partnership Bolsters the Global Expansion Efforts of RF Biocidics, which has operations in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. & VACAVILLE, Calif.--()--GIC Group (GIC) is pleased to announce the signing of a new advisory mandate to assist in the Sub-Sahara African (SSA) expansion efforts of RF Biocidics (RFB), a global food safety company headquartered in Vacaville, California. Founded in 2011, RFB provides customizable equipment solutions to its global clients, eradicating food-related pathogens, pests and fungi.

RFB’s APEX and SENTINEL product lines treat agricultural commodities without utilizing radiation or chemicals. The patented system is applicable to the following agricultural value chains: tree nuts, edible seeds, spices, dried herbs, tobacco, grains, flour, dried fruit and pet food. By leveraging RF photons at strategic frequencies, targeting molecules in host commodities and its pests, RFB’s technology induces well-controlled thermal and electronic effects, which lead to disinfection (pasteurization), disinfestation, enzyme inactivation and drying outcomes.

Under the terms of the Mandate, GIC will identify SSA’s technology transfer opportunities, conduct due diligence on candidate agribusinesses, and pursue joint venture opportunities on a case-by-case basis. GIC also will explore grant opportunities to underwrite RFB’s outreach campaign in priority SSA markets: Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Uganda and South Africa.

Rick Gilmore, President and Chief Executive Officer of GIC, said, “RFB is a dynamic company with impressive management under Mr. Craig Powell. A successful campaign offers a cost-effective strategy to safeguard SSA’s food supply system, increase industry competitiveness, and leverage sound environmental practices in target agricultural value chains. RFB’s technology stands as a stark reminder that effective technology need not function at the expense of the environment.”
