FAIRFIELD, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cambridge Investment Research, Inc. (Cambridge) congratulates independent financial advisor Michael Thaler, partner at Equity Concepts, LLC, for earning Honorable Mention for the Global Community Impact Award. This recognition, which is part of the 2014 Invest in Others Community Leadership Awards offered by the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation and Investment News magazine, is presented to an advisor whose efforts have made a lasting impact on a community outside the United States.
Thaler leveraged the power of focus by applying it to just one particular mission, which led to his founding of Effective Ministries, Inc. (EMI), also known as The LINK™ (Leading Innovatively Niger to The Kingdom). This non-profit organization oversees community partnerships and projects that impact the people of Niger, Africa and Richmond, Virginia, to meet their spiritual and physical needs.
“I am grateful to receive this prestigious recognition,” said Thaler. “My appreciation and gratitude goes to those whose support and faith has helped make this all possible. Together, we will continue to work towards making these children and families’ futures bright.”
Since 2003, more than 68 teams consisting of 767 travelers from 168 churches in 30 states have gone to Niger through EMI. In 2013 alone, EMI raised over $1,970,000 and sent eight mission teams to Niger to carry out various missions ranging from kids camps to medical assignments. Through financial donations, EMI provides aid to ministries working in Niger for projects in five specific focus areas: famine relief and nutrition support, wells and clean water, orphan care, education, and micro-business development.
“We applaud Michael’s dedication and passion,” said Amy Webber, Cambridge President. “Michael’s commitment to this cause is inspirational and we are proud to highlight this well-deserved recognition.”
