ALFA Welcomes Five New Directors

New Members Eager to Help Shape Senior Living Association’s Expanded Focus

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--()--The Assisted Living Federation of America welcomes five new directors who have been elected to Board of Directors at a crucial time in the association’s efforts to advance excellence in senior living. Joining the voice of senior living are: Tana Gall, president of Seattle-based Merrill Gardens; Ed Kenny, president and CEO of Des Moines, Iowa-based LCS; Randy Richardson, president of Chicago-based Vi; Patricia Will, president of Houston-based Belmont Village; and Chris Winkle, CEO of McLean, Va.-based Sunrise Senior Living.

“We are thrilled that these senior living innovators have joined ALFA, recognizing the association’s renewed vigor in embracing the changing needs of our evolving industry,” said ALFA Chairman Brenda Bacon. “We look forward to embracing their skills and energy as we build a trade association even better positioned and equipped to address the future needs of seniors and of our members who serve them.”

ALFA is embarking on a new chapter in the association’s 25-year history to better reflect a broader membership, changing health care industry and new resident and family needs. The association is working toward building even more competent and robust state advocacy organizations, adopting professional standards and creating credentialing programs. The association, which is undergoing a name change and a search for a new CEO, looks to its Board of Directors to help grow a trade association optimized to represent all of its constituents and accomplish the goals of the next generation of senior housing residents and providers.

The new directors come from new member companies and join the following ALFA Board officers: Chairman Brenda Bacon, president and CEO, Brandywine Senior Living; Vice Chairman Loren Shook, president, CEO and chairman, Silverado Senior Living; Vice Chairman Timothy Buchanan, CEO, Legend Senior Living; Secretary Charles Herman Jr., executive VP and CIO Health Care REIT; Treasurer Bruce Mackey Jr., president and CEO, Five Star Senior Living; Public Policy Chairman Stephanie Handelson, president and CEO, Benchmark Senior Living; and Immediate Past Chairman Mark Ohlendorf, co-president and CFO, Brookdale Senior Living; along with the following Board members:
