MIAMI--()--A passion for economics, finance and luxury real estate is what inspired Anita Funtek, CEO of the Miami New Construction Show, to produce South Florida’s first-ever buyers event during the condo construction boom.

More than 35,000 visitors are expected to attend this three-day event from Aug. 29-31 at the Miami Beach Convention Center that will feature panel discussions by real estate experts and an exposition featuring many of the new projects proposed in South Florida.

“Investing and making real estate projects become a reality has always attracted me,” said the Hungarian born Funtek, whose show will showcase more than 100 new development projects. “Our goal at the Miami New Construction Show is to organize a premier South Florida real estate event for buyers and investors to enhance market growth and create value for all stakeholders. Depending on the level of success we have, we will consider hosting the show annually and also launch in other boom condo markets, including Toronto and Dubai.””

Funtek is no stranger to the business world.

Educated in Hungary as an economist, Funtek holds an MBA and is a 20-year finance veteran with an executive resume that includes GE Capital, where she managed finance, operations, communications, and quality assurance, and a tenure as chairwoman for the National Research and Development Foundation, a project incubator for companies such as Samsung, Ecolab, UPC, and Heineken, among others.

Funtek – who is a nonpracticing real estate broker in South Florida – has a keen eye on the Miami new construction market.

Funtek credits her father, an architect, and her mother, a bookkeeper with instilling her strong work ethic and love of the real estate business. She still remembers the smell of fresh concrete at construction sites she visited with her father as a child.

“Anita has identified a niche in the South Florida preconstruction condo market that is not being adequately served for today’s buyers,” said South Florida condo expert Peter Zalewski of CraneSpotters.com. “This is the first time a real estate event of this magnitude has been produced for buyers and investors in South Florida. I am delighted to sit on the Miami New Construction Show board of directors.”

“It is no secret that the new construction market is booming in South Florida. With the preconstruction condo market gaining momentum for this upcoming winter tourism buying season, the timing of the Miami New Construction Show could not have been better.”

Nearly 250 new condo towers with more than 33,000 units have been proposed east of Interstate 95 in the tricounty South Florida region of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach, according to CraneSpotters.com.

Funtek anticipates all facets of the real estate industry to benefit from the exhibit, including buyers and sellers, investors, developers, architects, designers, brokers and agents, and just about anyone with a trade business serving the industry.
