WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Kingdom of the Netherlands has appointed Jos G. Wellink (64) as Honorary Consul in Houston, Texas. Wellink, vice president of Van Oord Offshore USA in Houston, will take up his task immediately.
The new Honorary Consul will help strengthen economic ties between the United States and the Netherlands and support the growing business community in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. He will also assist Dutch citizens in need.
Wellink is a seasoned business leader and an expert in offshore projects and the gas industry.
“We are very happy that Mr. Wellink will be part of our diplomatic team. With his knowledge and experience, he will be a great support to Dutch companies who want to do business in Texas and Houston in particular,” said Netherlands Ambassador to the United States Rudolf Bekink.
The Dutch Consul General in Miami, Nathalie Olijslager, will host an event to introduce Mr. Wellink to the Dutch community beginning of September. She will also accompany him on his first official visits to city, state and business officials.
