The City of New York and Essensa Renew Purchasing Agreement for Nonprofits

NEW YORK--()--Essensa, a New York based group purchasing organization, is pleased to announce the two-year renewal of its group purchasing agreement with the City of New York. This extended partnership will provide New York City-funded nonprofits and community-based organizations with continued access to discounts on a wide variety of products and services used in day-to-day business operations.

In the three years since the initial agreement, Essensa has signed 786 parent sites with a total of 2,141 locations, resulting in $33 million in purchasing volume through Essensa’s contracted vendors.

“We are proud to continue our relationship with the City of New York," said John P. Sganga, President & CEO, Essensa. “We remain committed to looking for ways to help this sector minimize its costs, enhance service delivery, and improve operating efficiencies.”

Essensa uses its members’ total purchasing volume to secure discounted prices from manufacturers and suppliers. It has committed to offering all city-funded nonprofit organizations their highest level of discounts, regardless of the size of the nonprofit. To better serve nonprofits, Essensa adapted its contracting strategy to take a two-pronged approach, leveraging its national presence and volume as well as sourcing locally to negotiate contract pricing with preferred vendors for services, such as insurance, facility management and maintenance, and furnishings.

For New York City-funded nonprofits that would like to sign up to access Essensa discounts or for more information about Essensa, please visit www.essensa.org/nyc or contact Greg Warner at warner@essensa.org or (866) 430-5330.
